San Fernando Valley
The Valley comprises 260 square miles north of Los Angeles. It is home to 1,760,000 persons. Two-thirds of The Valley is part of the City of Los Angeles, but it also includes five other cities: Burbank, Glendale, San Fernando, Calabasas, and Hidden Hills.
The Firm has always had a thriving practice in the Valley. There is a branch of the bankruptcy court in Woodland Hills, and the firm often practices there. It obtained a $1,000,000 judgment in an intellectual property matter filed as an adversary proceeding in that court. The Firm also appears regularly in the branch court of the Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys. It successfully defended an employee sued for unfair competition, obtaining a dismissal of the action and $44,211.50 in attorneys’ fees. The Firm also settled through mediation construction and other claims involving a former lock-down psychiatric facility in the Valley.
The Bob Baker also sued a major real estate investment firm located in the Valley, recovering a million dollar investment for a minority partner.
The Firm defended an employee who had been sued for unfair competition by bringing an anti-slapp motion that resulted in the dismissal of the action and an award of $44,211.50 in attorneys’ fees. A counter suit against the employer for sex harassment and other claims netted a $1,200,000 judgment on behalf of one employee and $600,000 on behalf of another.
